Pan Qiliu: Pan Qiliu Solo Exhibition

Pan Qiliu, born in Fuzhou of China in 1928, studied painting in Hangzhou Academy of Fine Arts under Lin Fengmian for over 30 years. In 1981, he studied abroad at Academy of Art College in San Francisco. He took a position at the Academy’s sculpture department, and focuses on abstract paintings during the past 26 years since his settlement in the US. Pan Qiliu has a profound affiliation with beauty, he stressed that excellent artworks are from the artists’ life experiences, and are decided upon their personal style and quality. Pan’s artworks present the universe in his mind, and the materials on the canvases are transformed into new texture of subtlety and elegance, which demonstrate an artistic conception of low relief, and what are frozen under the acrylic colors are his experience and accomplishment. The molten and hard stone like surface became soft and poetic under the coverage of colors, and the combination of color blocks are filled with airy effect.
