Peng Wei: Feminine Space was curated by Wu Hung, an internationally-noted art historian and professor at the University of Chicago; the show brings together nearly 60 works from "Seven Nights", "Hi-Ne-Ni", "Old Tales Retold", "Paragons of Feminine Virtue", and several other series that Peng has created recently. Through the careful layout of the exhibition space, the show aims to bring viewers into the multi-layered, multi-dimensional, and multi-sensory work of contemporary ink that Peng Wei has shaped using artworks that take a range of forms.

About Peng Wei
Born in 1974 in Chengdu and with a master’s degree in philosophy from the Nankai University in Tianjin, Peng Wei is a Beijing-based artist, whose work combines classical Chinese painting and subjects with altered traditional and contemporary materials. She has focused much of her work on garments and embroidered shoes. In recent years, she has expanded her practice by applying traditional Chinese paintings onto three-dimensional objects and creating installation art, without losing the meaning and proficiency of the traditional Chinese works.

Peng Wei has exhibited internationally, including I Thought of You, Suzhou Museum, Suzhou, China (2017); Utopias/Heterotopia — Wuzhen International Contemporary Art Exhibition, Wuzhen, China (2016); and Coming Full Circle, National Museum of History, Taipei, Taiwan (2015). Her work is housed in public and private collections, including the Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, U.S.; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, U.S.; Asian Art Museum, San Francisco, U.S.; Brooklyn Museum, New York, U.S.; M+ Museum, Hong Kong, China; National Art Museum of China, Beijing, China, and Sigg Collection.
