In the Ordinary — The Poetics of Space
When art steps down from the wall and returns to everyday life — inhabiting space through the quiet interplay of light and shadow — can classic design, shaped by fashion, architecture, and formal aesthetics, cultivate a lived-in landscape that resides between art and the everyday through the act of collecting?
Tina Keng Gallery is pleased to present In the Ordinary, its first-ever collaboration with renowned designer furniture brand Fuhaus. This specially curated exhibition seeks to blur the boundaries between contemporary art and living spaces. Juxtaposing the searing poetics of the works of Sanyu alongside those of other generations of artists, with the distinct vocabulary of classic designs by the Italian furniture brand Gervasoni, the exhibition offers an aesthetic experience that rekindles the viewer’s perception of space and the everyday.
The nudes, vases of flowers, and still lifes by Sanyu gently whisper of the confluence between Eastern poetics and Western modernism. The spiritual narratives emerging from artists like Wang Pan-Youn, Su Xiaobai, Sopheap Pich, Su Meng-Hung, and Chihhung Liu — spanning eras, materials, and cultures — intersect through expressive brushwork and a refined appreciation for natural textures of the century-old Italian brand Gervasoni. Together, they create an immersive space where multiple artistic perspectives unfold. Designer Paola Navone blends Eastern and Western design languages, weaving art into the fabric of daily life. This fusion conjures a subtle yet elegant aesthetic, inviting the viewer to experience the symbiotic rhythm between art and design as they navigate the space.
More than just an exhibition, In the Ordinary serves as an approach to life: How do we engage with art in the midst of the mundane? How do we glimpse a sense of poetry in the space we dwell?
