This volume is the first comprehensive Chinese-English bilingual monograph on Pang Tseng-Ying published in Taiwan. It brings together approximately 130 works in oil, ink, and watercolor, along with an interview with artist Li Teh, one of the artists who co-founded Chi Hsiang Studio with Pang, and a major critical essay by art scholar Tseng Chang-Sheng, titled The Evolution of Pang Tseng-Ying’s Artistic Thought: From Modern Chinese Art to Modern Chinese Painting. The book also includes a detailed chronology of Pang’s life, as well as lists of his exhibitions and collections.
Through its comprehensive compilation of artworks and documentary texts, the monograph seeks to provide a record through which to approach the artistic journey of Pang Tseng-Ying and his generation of Chinese artists—artists whose lives and practices were shaped by continual movement between countries, cultures, artistic traditions, and historical circumstances.
