二零零七年四月二十一日,暖春、和煦、來自臺北的大未來畫廊在北京雍和藝術園區開幕。作為華人西洋油畫藝術市場的主要發起者和參與者,大未來畫廊此次進入北京,標誌著專業化國際化的頂級畫廊進入中國藝術市場,是整個華人藝術圈的盛事。
 
于 1992 年創立於臺北的大未來畫廊,自成立初始, 即定位為引薦西方藝術名家作品、挖掘出為美術史所埋沒的海外華人藝術典範,同時推薦具有發展潛力的當代華人藝術家。畫廊的兩位主人林天民先生與耿桂英女士,秉持「藝術是終生的事業」之信念,開拓了以往未有的收藏天地,他們在藝術與人文的傳遞上,不僅為藝術家與收藏家之間搭建了完美的溝通橋樑,而且為民眾帶來了美的感悟與智慧的激蕩。從歷年來「大未來」集結海內外不同畫家與展覽,顯示出他們的國際視野與宏大雄心,以及為藝術愛好者服務的熱切與真誠。
 
大未來畫廊在藝術領域的地位,從多年前趙無極去往臺灣只到訪「大未來」一家畫廊此件逸事就可窺見一斑。蜚聲中外的吳冠中也讚譽「大未來」重新梳理華人美術史上遺珠的舉動譬喻為「把沉船撈出」。從發掘常玉、朱沅芷、吳大羽、陳蔭羆等海外華人藝術家開始,繼而回歸到中國近現代名家林風眠、關良、龐熏琹、楊秋人等,同時持續關注具有新東方思維繪畫形式的華人當代藝術家,已然由點到線乃至於面,並以宏觀的角度,消弭人為劃分的地域限制,深刻且完整地涵蓋了華人藝術近一個世紀以來的發展面貌。
 
如今,新開幕的北京大未來畫廊,上下兩層空間呈現出摩登,現代,恢弘卻又低調的氣度。活動當天海內外藝術界,美術界多位名家,國際藝術品收藏家,鑒賞家與企業名家,隸屬大未來畫廊的海內外畫家也會專程抵京參加此次盛大活動。當天從海內外趕來參加活動的藝術家有:蕭勤、張宏圖、朱禮銀、王懷慶、黃榮禧、楊茂林、許江、王璜生、林鉅、郭維國。
 
除了延續臺北「大未來」的經營理念外,同時也將透過與新銳策展人合作的模式,發掘出更多具潛力的藝術家。「大未來」以「未來」性為自許,著眼於「大」華人,「大」世界,將繼續不拘泥于傳統,一直行走在美術史高點上的信念。在邁向全新階段的同時,「大未來」不斷思考的嚴肅課題是,如何在推介與樹建富有新東方美學的文化主體性,為華人美術史做出貢獻。
